ICTC is currently seeking an individual for an immediate full-time position for experienced Fiber Splicing Technician for Telecommunications. Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all types of fiber optic cable and installation of premises equipment.

Wages are $16/hr or more DOE, plus excellent benefits.

GENERAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (not fully inclusive)

  • Be professional in appearance, attitude and work ethic.
  • Responsible for customer premise installations, including racking, cabling, bonding and grounding.
  • Coordinate fiber construction activities with other ICTC team members
  • Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and meters.
  • Terminate, splice, bond/ground and test fiber optic able to industry standards.
  • Provide accurate equipment location, splicing and terminating records.
  • Assist construction/engineering and all other aspects of the business
  • Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment.
  • Be proficient with the following equipment: fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, etc .
  • Ability to self-start, work under minimal supervision, and apply technical expertise to evaluate problems and implementing the best solutions.
  • Work a variety of schedules including normal duty and on-call duty. Schedule will include local travel and occasional overnight stays. Will be required to work night shifts and overtime when needed.
  • Maintain a clean driving record with valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, basic home networking
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug testing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred telecommunications trade school degree
  • Preferred experience in modern fiber splicing techniques
